Kent MacLeod, BSc., RPh., Owner & CEO of NutriChem | The Gut-Brain Axis: The Gut Microbiome, Mental Health, Pain, and Addiction
Kent MacLeod, NutriChem’s owner and CEO, is one of the original global thought-leaders in the realm of digestive health and its key connection to the brain, otherwise known as The Gut-Brain Axis. Health problems such as digestive issues, inflammation, anxiety, depression, addiction, chronic pain, and hormone imbalances, can often be linked to a disrupted gut microbiome. The gut microbiome is the micro-ecosystem of bacteria, fungi, and viruses that lives within your large intestine, and it is rapidly emerging as a central pillar of health connected to a vast array of diseases. Kent is our most experienced clinical pharmacist with the broadest knowledge base. He consults on an array of topics beyond just the microbiome, as well. He also works with children with Down Syndrome, autism, and other developmental conditions.

Dr. Adam Livingston, PharmD, BSc., RPh. | Medication Deprescribing and Medical Cannabis
Adam Livingston focuses on helping patients reduce or discontinue harmful medications and limit polypharmacy, which is the overuse of prescription drugs. If you or a loved one are questioning your medications, Adam is the professional to speak with at NutriChem. Where appropriate, Adam works with patients’ prescribers to help patients come off of medications that are either providing too little benefit or causing too much harm. Common inappropriately prescribed medications include the antacid drugs PPIs (proton pump inhibitors), benzodiazepines for sleep and anxiety, sleeping pills, ADHD medications, and antidepressants.

Adam also runs NutriChem’s medical cannabis program. Medical cannabis is a useful deprescribing tool and could be a safe and effective option for you if you suffer from pain, anxiety, or sleep problems. NutriChem’s medical cannabis program provides much more guidance than typical medical cannabis consultations. A medical cannabis consultation at NutriChem’s clinical pharmacy is a much safer way of trying cannabis under the guidance of a healthcare professional versus experimenting with newly legalized recreational cannabis products.
